Data and Business

Marketers are in continuous search of methods to promote their brands and products, but not all of them succeed. Whatever the result be there is a lot of hard work behind the final product of how to market a product, whom to market, where to market it etc. The question which now comes is how does one arrive at the specific attributes?

There is a lot of raw data, information processing & calculation (which we generally refer to number crunching) that goes behind the scene. If a marketer wants to get positive results, he will need to work with data and numbers as much as any finance guy would have to. There is a lot of information hidden even in the most basic data form of data.

Following things should be kept in mind:

1.  1.  According to the product & market decide on what data would you need.
2.  2.  Break the data into smaller groups & segments that make sense.
3.  3.  Use tools for data interpretation. Excel is one of the simplest still powerful tools which come out as life saving for people whose daily work is to dig into data.
4.  4.  Convert the data into charts & graphs. They tend to give much more information than data itself.
5.  5.  Use all this information to decide the right set of methods to go forward.
